Route 66! .... the fact of having recently done with my friend Jean Paul a little video clip  (Love Hurths) , with Route 66 in the background made me want to take this mythical song on a mythical road

Route 66 is a popular rhythm and blues standard, composed in 1946 by American songwriter Bobby Troup. The song uses a twelve-bar blues arrangement and the lyrics follow the path of U.S. Route 66 (US 66), which traversed the western two-thirds of the U.S. from Chicago, Illinois, to Los Angeles, ...

It is with the song Route 66, cover by the Rolling Stone,  that I discovered in 1964,  a strange way to play the guitar with something that I did not know ... the bends!

and the "I fired my cuti" and I went from Shadows ... to Stones

I do not like my voice and my accent on this song ... if someone wanted to sing it with a voice a little more Roc 'n' roll then I incorporate it in a video clip with Route 66 in the background  ;)

Great cover JP - love the jazzy guitar playing. As for your voice, that lovely French accent always sounds charming !

Jean Pierre

thank you all friends,
you're really nice for my accent

..and Alfredo, you are lucky to have made this beautiful trip, ... the American dream

next time I would do cover  "national 7"  of Charles Trenet, which is the French alternative to "route 66"     :) :) :) :)

You've done a great cover. The guitar work stands out, and the vocals have a wonderful charm. But all of the supporting parts are perfect: The piano comping, the walking bass, the organ. Congrats!

I lived for a few years in Flagstaff (as some members here may know). All of the gift shops and gas stations sold Route 66 souvenirs. I came to view it as a cheap way to grab some money from tourists. But it was a lot worse in some other towns along that were formerly transected by Route 66 – particularly if they had an exit off of Interstate 40. I came to view it as an inverse economic indicator: The more a little town seemed to be leaning into Route 66 mystique, the worse things were going in that town's economy. Winslow also leverages a little too desperately the "standin' on a corner" lyric from the Eagles' song.

Ah Flagstaff Arizona :)  :) when I heard this song for the first time (covered by the Stones, beautiful version !), in 1964, I was 16 years old and I didn't understand a single word
of this song,...and I didn't know obviously the existence of this route 66 (but do the americans know the mythical Nationale 7 in France ? )

It is by this cover of the stones that I heard for the first time Bend on the guitar Ah nostalgia!
