Absolutely terrific cover of one of my all time favourite songs. do you have access to my favourites list? you seem to be working your way through it on your covers.
Keep up the good work.....

I love the playing and the vocal fits the song perfectly, well done to Jean Paul, I'll certainly be checking out his site later
While I was listening and reading your post and you mentioned the steel guitar, I got a wee bit excited  at the anticipation of a guitar solo.
and then there it was, tremendous.
I'm very impressed with your steel guitar playing, I just love the sound of a "crying" steel guitar.
I got a steel guitar app for the Ipad a while back which was pretty good and I was getting the the gist of it, until I cracked the screen

OK, you can skip past this bit...........The getting pickier every day side of me would have liked a longer solo, but you  probably already knew I was going to say that.

You're right, there have been a lot of covers to this one, my go to favourite is Gram Parsons And Emmylou Harris from the Grevious Angel Album.

I was very much in love with Emmy Lou in my younger days, (still am a bit) she recorded an Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC many moons ago, its now one of my most played DVD'S I can highly recommend a watch if you haven't already seen it, I think you would enjoy it

OH, and before I go..........Suggested name for your band.........JP Squared

Thanks for this JP, all downloaded to the iphone, you have just built my playlist for my drive tomorrow.

Very much appreciated, particularly looking forward to Over The Rainbow, I love that song, The late Eva Cssiday is my favourite version, but looking forward to hearing it played on slide guitar.

I bought myself a "thing" which you put under the strings at the nut and it raises the strings and is supposed to turn your normal guitar into a sort of pretend slide guitar, Ill need to dig that back out and have a play, I remember me and a friend trying it out years ago, but that was back in my drinking days, I remember we had fun but cant remember what it sounded like.

Thanks again

Cheers
Ronnie
(tempted to just start playing through them now, but I'll wait till I hit the A9 road tomorrow, main road north to south through the centre of Scotland beautiful scenery and music)

You are an excellent musician, my friend, I always enjoy your music,

Good luck with your trip on the A9 Ron, we have a fair amount of snow here at Dunkeld.

..good alternative to begin the steel guitar: I have 3 slide guitars : Dobro, Weissenborn; electric lap steel ...bu tI always keep an old guitar with this kind of nut to have always ready a different tuning

and as Alex

As expected Somewhere over the rainbow, by far my favourite, followed by My heart will go on.

I've dug out my "guitar nut convertor" (much better name than a "Nut Extender", wince...) and fitted it to my yamaha. The guy in the video made a good point on the guage of the unwound strings, I'll take care of that then I'm heading "Over the rainbow" too. (in my dreams)

You're certainly inspiring me to try new things, I've also dusted off my Takamine Nylon string and am trying to follow along with your Cavatina.

So many thanks for the inspiration, now it's just a matter of finding the time.

Todays trip was cancelled by the way, it was just a bit of a get together but just about every one was affected by the snow, so better safe than sorry, there's always next weekend.

Cheers
Ronnie
