dug the juno di out for some tinkling and chord hopping, then using drum jam i played along to tracks using six separate drum kits, tapping away along to the tune as it played. on six separate tracks six separate times, a drummer i am not.

the juno was 8 tracks four stereo, then bounced to a stereo track, i did that about a week ago in a morning.

the drums took a few days. whilst i was doing drums i was thinking of words/lyrics/theme and nothing was coming, so left it again for another day or so.

whilst driving, i was having a fit of nostalgia listening to old peter hammill cds, his album "over" was on (i highly recommend it) the track "time heals" was playing, and in it's lyric PH used a pun play on words by using afterwords instead of afterwards. and that set my mind spinning cause when you split afterwords in Scotland after words has a lot of connotations. when people have been fighting it is oft said "they had words" anyway with that wee bit of wordplay on my mind, the lyrics wrote themselves.

anyway it is what it is.

Is there any way back
After words
Building bridges
Mending fences
So you have regrets
After words
Now they've been said
And can't be unsaid
After words

It never makes sense
After words
You've lost control
The argument
Look at yourself
After words
Upon reflection
Were you right or wrong
After words

You wish you hadn't said
And you want to take them back
But they have left their mark
And the wounds run deep
How you gonna heal
The hurt you caused
After words

Can you make amends
After words
Hide your pride
Try be humble
In the rage of heat
After words
Cool your jets
Lose that temper
After words

Brilliant, James! I like the atmosphere of the music - a bit "lazy" and dreamy. Fine job with the vocals/singing and top class production.

Nice work Jim, I know the phrase having words quite well as it was a combination my mother used quite often. You however have turned it into a beautiful song.     Willie

Lovely ambience ORH. Lovely word play but some great chords used in this too and very modern sounding. Great production too.
