This is a real old song written in the 1920s by a guy called Ranson, but I think it goes back further than that. I think it's an old folk song. It's been covered by The Carter Family etc. The reason the song came to mind is that I found some old family photos and was reminded of the old Sunday night sing-songs in my Gran's house when we were kids. One of my late Uncles used to sing this. I've left most of the verses out. It kinda seemed right at the time to do this.
