From my last gig with Lurker a month or so back. Just got around to listening to it and decided to post while the Glenfiddich was on hand. This tune hurts my hand. The first chord is a G, but then you have to kind of slur the F to the E on the high E string. The main riff is just that into D/F# > Em > D/F#, etc. Put a capo on then 7th fret, and you've got 90% of the song. It gets quite hypnotic live, and I manage to screw it up often. As a point of fact, I do a pretty lousy and sparse version compared to what Oliver Wood does.

64, the site looks amazing. Thank you for all your work while I've been off the wagon (both figuratively and figuratively). Apologies for being away. I'm trying.

Hook, I would like to try and get together over my break. I'll even put a bow on the sitar (How's that for a bizarre euphemism?).

"Postcards from Hell"

I know a man who sings the blues
Yeah, he plays just what he feels
Keeps a letter in the pocket of his coat
But he never breaks the seal

Set up in a bar room corner
Playin' for tips and beer
People carryin' on and drinkin'
You gotta strain to hear

I've seen him playin' some old cheap guitar
But he could play on pots and pans
You never heard a soul so pure and true
It's flowin' right out of his hands

He can sing sweet as a choir girl
Or he can sing a house on fire
I've seen him callin' up the angels
And use a breeze for a telephone wire

And if you ask him
How he sings his blues so well
He says
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
And I don't read postcards from hell

Says he came from down in Texas
Playin' out since he's fifteen
You can hear a little Chicago
And a lot of New Orleans

He can take you on a freight train
He can take you down the alley
He can take you to the church
He can walk you through the valley

And if you ask him
How he sings his blues so well
He says
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
And I don't read postcards from hell

I've seen him sleepin' in a doorway
Maybe livin' outside
On his back just like a cockroach
But he ain't waitin' to die

And if you ask him
How he sings his blues so well
He says
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
I got a soul that I won't sell
That's how I sing my blues so well
And I don't read postcards from hell

I really like this,  Unlike Glenfiddich, I can drink it but not my choice,
Getting back to the music, I always look forward to your posts, always top class, guitar playing and the voice to die for,
Nice one guys.

Real good guys! A great version of this song. Lurker sings it well and Blooby I can hear how those chords and progression would cramp up the hands quickly. On or off the wagon I think you play just as good  ;D

I've listened to this a few times now and there's just something out Lurkers vocal that really captivates. Great job with this.
