Hey welcome and shouts from NH. You had a Fostex VF80? Me too:

I had it for a week, loaned it out and it was returned with the play button caved in. I took it apart to remove the plastic button so I could use it again, which was a total nightmare - never got it to work again  ???

Anyway, welcome and hope you have fun here,

Mark

Hi Mark & Geir...good to meet you guys. Bummer about your VF80 Mark...i guess i was lucky with mine. I did two albums of cover songs to learn the unit and then my first album of originals. I liked it but was disappointed with the mastering set up. The manual was awful and overall i found the unit not all that user friendly. I recorded a good friend of mine with it...he loved it and bought it..opening the door for me to step up to the 1200, which i love.
Norway eh Geir? There's a place i would love to see. Heard many good things about your country. Thanks for the kind words about my music. I definitely jump all over genre-wise...which as far as building a fan base is probably not a good idea...but i'm long past worrying about being popular. To me, it's all about fun and being creative.
I am leaning more toward the acoustic things next...probably an instrumental album with songs like Whistlepig (dulcimer) White Buffalo (posted under the 1200 section here) and more mountain/bluegrassy type stuff. I do love the blues though and will be hard pressed to stay away from that! Gotta make time to go and check out all you folks music. Not enough hours in the day!! Thanks again for taking the time to listen to my noise.

Good to meet ya Satch...This does seem a good site. Thought at first maybe you meant Phoenix. My daughter lives there. I'd die in that heat...although that guitar shaped pool in your avatar would help.
I think perhaps you are a big Neil Young fan eh?...me too!

Yah, it's pretty toasty here at times...but I love it!

I saw Neil Young in concert once and he was great - played guitar, harp, and even some ancient pipe-organ!  That was when I lived in Michigan!

Nice to meet you Pinedog - I enjoyed your White Buffalo tune alot!

Hello Pinedog.

I love your mic'd up recordings. Welcome from Leeds UK (who have just been beaten by Millwall tsk.)

Hello and thanks for the warm welcome to Side Effect in Scotland, 48 in the UK, and Flash Harry Live at Leeds (always loved that album!) Thanks for the kind words on my Mic'd up tune, White Buffalo. One of my biggest challenges is getting consistent levels. I bought an ART TubePac not long ago and have to say...if you are micing, an outboard tube pre really warms up your sound and gives a way bigger signal to work with. The pre's in the BR's are good, but for live mic's, i really like using my TubePac. Never use the compressor section so i could have just as easily bought the ART basic tube pre...which is like $29 now. It's also quite impressive used on my GSR200FM Ibanez bass. Do you guys use outboard pre's alot?
