Thanks for posting this JP. These guys sound really good. I've never seen anyone pull off that lead playing on a fiddle. I mean the bluegrass guys at festivals would pluck them to get a rhythmic effect, but what Andrew was doing is very cool. That Bass player is amazing.

I could only see 2 mics in front and couldn't tell what they were (ribbon, sm57's) because of wind shields.

These NPR tiny desk recordings are always so clean and well balanced, so I looked up the sound engineer, Josh Rogosin, and found this on set-up. Sennheisers. There are also more vids about him.

what a talented family, the vocals on this work so well together, not familiar with the song but the playing sounds perfectly suited to the song.
