Last night I had the chance to play and record.  I had a new song all lined up and ended up doing this instead, completely unplanned.

This song has always been around in my life, part of the furniture.  but recently I heard it on the radio and realised it's a brilliant piece.  Last night I just sort of stumbled on the opening riff and it all stemmed from there.

The naked refers to the guitar, by the way, before your mind's eye scars you for life.

Fantastic interpretation of a classic! I've always loved this song.

With which gear did you record this song? The guitar has very warm, dynamic and clear tone.

Fine job, Nick!

It's my Ibanez Talman acoustic, recorded with my iPhone 5. I was sat in the corner of our sofa with the phone laid on the sofa pointing at my right leg.  Which sounds haphazard but trial and error over several years tells me this is as good a setup as any (it's the same way I recorded Speeding Fine and Moonchild earlier this year).  It's also the same strings as those two songs so they're a bit duller.

I was also trying to make a dent in my backlog of World Rally Championship highlights so that was on, muted, on the other side of the room (Argentina and Portugal - I was gutted when Elfyn Evans missed out on his first WRC win when he clipped that bridge on the last stage).

Lovely stuff! I did a version of this a few years ago, but mine was a full on "rock" version. This is gorgeous (and really clever), the way you've stripped it back & made it work on acoustic. Bravo!
