This was a tough one.  I decided early on I had to do a straight cover - couldn't come up with any other approach.  It required me to learn some new guitar playing techniques, which is a good thing.  You'll probably have gathered that I'm not as good a guitar player as Jimmy Page, but I'm happy that I gave a decent account of myself.

It's track 9 of III, deep into side two.  I've two more to finish the album now - Tangerine and Hats Off to (Roy) Harper
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity

Dude - You played the sh*t out of that tune!
Well done sir! It sounds great.

Is that DADGAD tuning?
It ain't pretty being easy.

Nice work, mate! Not just the guitar... the vocals are superb, too! Not being a massive Led Zep expert, I could easily have been convinced that it was Robert Plant singing here.

Thanks everyone.

It's open G, DGDGBD (same tuning as That's the Way), then dropped two semitones (presumably to avoid sounding like That's the Way).

It was a really hard one to sing. I think I'm an octave down compared to Plant. Thanks though.

Open F? ;)

Seriously, great job on this Nick. I figgered this song was done in an open tuning, so good to see confirmation of that. Isn't it unusual how a heavy metal band's third album served as an introduction (for me, at least) to folky acoustic songs and open tunings along with some of their heaviest metal songs? Yes, Led Zeppelin III is that album.

Great job on this Led Zep cover Nick! I replied to this yesterday but must have got so caught in your wonderful performance that I forgot to hit post, lol! Anyway it sounds even better with today's listen. I wondered what open tuning you were using, thanks for posting that.

Mrs C just shouted upstairs - "Are you listening to Led Zepellin?". A compliment indeed as she's the Led Zep fan in this house!
