Family went to hang out with some friends who have power. I stayed home and did this one. All done with the BR80, even the drums were recorded with the on board mics.
The Hurricane That Came Before
written & performed by Hook
It's a different kind of darkness
When the power goes out
An unsettling kind of dark
No microwave clocks
Or little red dots
From the house alarm

A slight window breeze
Now blocked by the trees
Not the hurricane that came before

Not quite silent for sound is all around
Crickets & frogs & the hum of generators
Gasoline at work
Until they run out of that special perk

Mighty strong winds
Came thundering through
We fared ok
Hope that others did too
An invitation to the bunker
At the nudist resort
I bet those crazy freaks
Have some stories to report

You are such a professional Hook,
This is brilliant, after all, you have been through you still find time to make your music,
I am proud of you pal.

A very meaningful song Hook! I can vividly hear and see the picture you paint with your words. A song recorded with batteries in the battery.....nice

Moving stuff and more insightful than any news report. So personal. I can imagine that making music was a must for you as both escape and therapy in the darkness.

Fine artistry from deep adversity
Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter

You have shown with this song how you have stood strong in the face of the storm. You still have all your faculties intact. Great quirky songwriting Hook. Hope all gets back to normal soon as possible.

Yep, it's amazing how you were able to turn your experience into a song so quickly, Mr. Hook. Recording sounds really good - just goes to show what you can do with the onboard mics on the BR recorders.

Irma caused a lots of damage, but it seemed to be an inspirer to you and Farrell, as well!

A nice little song about the power and result of a hurricane. Very fine job!

Oh Man, you have painted a picture with this song that describes exactly what my last 4 days and nights have been like. Especially at night when that generator stops and you hear the others in the distance. It was a scary feeling at times.
Great songwriting and melody you have here Hook.

Hey Brother
Glad to hear you my friend. An amazing song, and a historical record of these crazy times, a song for Irma!
Hope the family are all good, and life returns to normal as quickly as it possibly can.
