For a while, the people around these parts have taken to saying 'on account of the fact that' when they mean 'because'.  When you dig back through the ages to the first origin of this song (about three or four of your Earth weeks)  it was this phrase which is at the very core of it.

It grew into a love-song-for-our-times.  Since the industrial revolution, the human animal has opened many Pandora's Boxes and continues to do so to this day.  But life - and love - goes on.

This was actually finished and cut before the new guitar came onto the scene, so the guitar here is the Harley Benton LP.  Everything else is variously GB with DM-1 drums.  And several vocal tracks.

as it was nearing completion, along came the Under-2 fest and by happy accident this is short enough to qualify, so no-brainer.  It's my first festival submission in months.

A nod is due to Ian Dury for the structure of the verses, from Reasons to be Cheerful (Part 3).

Play loud.

The world is in a tangle
Seen from any angle
It's going through the mangle [on account of the fact that]

So it came as a surprise
When I looked into your eyes
And I came to realise

You were smiling in a way
That I found I had to say
Can I take you out today?

So now I'm in a hurry
Cause we're going for a curry
Scurry, scurry, scurry

    --/--

Now I find I'm alone with you
And I realise I don't know what to do

    --/--

It's ironic, I reckon
That as nuclear war threatens
My love life starts to beckon

The curry went great
And we stayed out really late
I've asked you on a second date

And while there's plenty to fear
I'm happy when you're near and
I've got reasons to be cheerful

So if you'll only be my friend
I'll stay with you the end
Of the world

    --/--

Now I find I'm in love with you
And I realise I know what to do

    --/--

Big fish, little fish,
Pandora's Box

Overdrive - Distortion - Hyperactivity
Yesterdays shatter, tomorrows don't matter

Loving it Nick,
