unwanted sounds

hi, sometimes I get a strange sound recorded
it is mostly on rich deep recordings
its like :cribb cribb , and it wil make a recording not usable.
is this because of my set up
or is it a card problem

more details please... my immediate reaction is that the microphone got bumped or moved around while recording... but thats all based on what I think "cribb cribb" sounds like... LOL.
