My dad, Jimmy Higgins (19.08.1937 - 05.10.1977) would have been 80 years old today, sadly he passed away at the age of 41. He was quite a guy and fitted more into his short life than i could probably fit in if i live to be 200 years old.

Anyway happy birthday dad.

having connection problems and struggling to upload file, will keep trying. still can't upload directly to site so, uploaded to alonetone for now.
I still remember you, like it was yesterday,
I can feel your presence, like you're still here
You left your mark on me, you made me who I am,
I can only hope I am half the man you where
Nearly 40 years, and I still see your face,
as clear as day
Only 41 when you left our world
To do so much with so little time
Be eighty years today, if you where still around
So have a happy happy birthday dad
I'm older than you know, but still your little boy
And I will always be so proud of you
Nearly 40 years, and I still see your face
As clear as day
Only 41 when you left our world
To do so much with so little time
I still remember you, like it was yesterday,
I can feel your presence, like you're still here
You left your mark on me, you made me who I am,
I can only hope I am half the man you where
Be eighty years today, if you where still around
So have a happy happy birthday dad

Made me miss my pop and his dry sense of humor. I recall being around the dinner table, cracking a joke, and saying, "I'm so witty." His response was, "Well, you're half right."  Still one of the best one-liners I've ever encountered.

Nice tune, lovely sentiment. Wish I could write from the heart, but with lyrics, my internal editor has too much baggage.

Nice post.

I've been out of the loop here as we where dealing with my wife's mothers illness and she sadly passed away so this strikes at the heart for me.
The lyrics say it all.
An excellent tribute to your dad james.
