I'm uploading two versions of Sultans of Swing by my former gig band (The JMZ Band). Both are live versions with post eqing and mixing. The first is the full band recorded at a park concert in 2005. It was captured on a mini disc with two mics placed in front of the left/right main speakers. Everything on stage was mic'ed so what you hear is how we truly sounded that evening.   The second is an acoustic version, with just three of us, recorded recently in my studio/rehearsal room with mics on the three acoustic guitars and the lead vocal. I thought it was interesting to hear the comparison between electric/acoustic and being 12 years apart. Dave recently moved back from Hawaii so who knows...maybe there will be more of these jams happening. Steve Zakel is singing and playing the lead guitar on both versions. "Farrell's strickly rhythm" on both  ;D. Dave is playing bass on the electric version and acoustic on the other. Kurt is the drummer.

I loved the both! On the first one there's a real Knopfler tone on guitar. The acoustic has very warm feel and some Spanish influence on guitar, imo.

Very professional job Farrell and friends! Just enjoyable music!!

It's funny how that song was always more or less just another song on the radio for me but listening to your two versions really made it personal and I thoroughly enjoyed both.

Thanks for sharing. Great stuff

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
