Hmm, it got a bit 'involved' this one ....

Got a real 90s "Britrock" feel to it which I love! Excellent production & recording... love the loose, swaggering feel. Sounds really "live". Bravo, mate!

Thanks SO much - you guys ROCK!!! Yeah, the album's coming along nicely thanks! Not as fast as I would like but ... I now feel I'm getting there (on the music front at least). The entire thing is being recorded on a BR1600 (or has been to date) and I think I'll just stick with it. I have showcased, tried and used lots of different recording platforms down through the years but, for me at least, there's just 'something' about the BR1600 that I keep coming back to. I feel comfortable making muzak with it so I just got to the stage where I thought: "Sod it! I'm going to stop flitting between recorders and just stick to what I know." It's been the right decision so far methinks as, since making said decision, I've definitely spent more time concentrating on 'the music'. Next up on my running LP tracklist?: A chilled out little Spanish guitar-based number entitled: 'Morocco'. Wish me luck ...

PS: I'm aware I'm very much 'lost in a recording bubble' of my own making right now! All my 'free' (?!) time is spent recording the next song on my LP tracklist (I have it pinned to my makeshift studio noticeboard and tick each song off when it's recorded then mixed). When one song is 'done' (are they ever really done though??) I move straight on to the next on the list. The thing is, I'm becoming more & more aware as I get nearer LP completion that I'm not doing ANYTHING (anything AT ALL!) re: promoting this album in the works! I just stick my tunes up on here in the hope of getting some gauge as to where I'm up to in proceedings (be it: constructive criticism/insights/'what have you?' - CHEERS!) and then carry on with the next song on the list. HOWEVER a number of folks have recently commented (and rightly so) that I should now be thinking about 'THE BIGGER PICTURE' such as: 'Pre-orders', 'Pledge' something or other & 'Tyrekicker' campaigns. Hmm ...  I have to admit, this is where it ALL falls down for me. I know nothing of all 'that kind of stuff'. Yes, I know I should but, I'm only remotely good at the writing & recording side of things it seems. Anybody care to shed any light as to WHAT ELSE I should be doing this end at this stage of the game??

PPS: I don't have representation by way of a manager/record co. What I do have is a small (overseas) publishing deal but that's 'per song' and more to do with post-production licensing & royalties - they don't involve themselves with actual releases. Any help as to manufacturing/promo/marketing/etc. would be greatly appreciated because, as things stand, I am doing everything myself this end (but I'm aware I'm only concentrating on the bits I enjoy and am remotely good at ie: the writing/recording/producing 'making music' side of things). I guess what I'd really like is for people to be able to hear this album rather than release it into the ether and nobody know about it. Seems like a bit of a wasted effort to put all this time into making an album that very few folks will hear as things stand. I believe I have 'the tunes' to make a great little album this end - it's certainly shaping up to be one anyway (though I do say so myself!) but what I don't appear to have is 'an audience'. Well, not much of one anyway! Everyone who seems to 'like' my music tend to be musicians themselves and, in my experience, musicians don't tend to buy other musos music. Also, in order to do this collection of songs justice, I'm thinking I'll need a physical 'product' to punt rather than just the streaming/download thang. ANY advice folks might have on the whole 'Business OF Music' front would be much appreciated - I've always been REALLY crap when it comes to this side of things. THANKS (AGAIN!)

For digital sales, I'd recommend DistroKid. My album is released through them & I keep all the earnings (you pay £20/year flat fee). For the first time I've actually got an album on the major retailers sites - iTunes/Amazon/GooglePlay etc.

As for promoting... I'm using Twitter & it is SLOWLY beginning to work (I started promoting it in March). I'm following a lot of online unsigned radio stations who solicit music submissions from people like us. BBC Introducing are a big help, too. I've had some of my tunes on the local BBC station which has led to sales. Also local community radio stations are usually pretty accommodating as well.

Message me if you want some more info :)
