Guys, just posting a version here in the thread with no lead, just a backing track if anyone is interested... if anyone wants to have a punt at sticking something on top they are most welcome. Vocals, guitar, keys... (uke!)... :)

Well I guess you got used to it !!!!

Well conceived and well played tune.  Wonderful tone from the Paul.  Good, easy listen.

You're not helping my buyers resistance !  I've had GAS for a Paul for quite a while now.  Maybe I'll win the lottery!

Nice post man,

Ron

Just yesterday I was talking about how I'm too timid with my modulation effects – Flanger, Phaser, Tremolo, Chorus Pedal. Ironically, what got me thinking about it was grunge, not smooth and clear sounds like you have here.

For my tastes, this ought to be a very boring set up – the slow pace, the almost jazzy chords. But somehow you've filled it with twists that held my attention.

I love the pan tremolo effect you have going on here. (I think that is what that is.) And the chord progression surprises me every time it cycles around. It's deceptive little sucker. It sets up expectations and throws a curveball at the end of the cycle: a little darkness following all of those bright, shimmering chords. That chord change is one of the things that elevates this above a noodling exercise. The drums and bass, as well: A lazier arranger would have looped the same steady ride cymbal pattern across the whole thing (I confess, I've done this – recently.)  But you vary the drums and bass. It's subtle, but it affects the way we hear the chords.

Also: I have a Squire Les Paul that I've never been able to make sound this good. Congrats!
