Doing it wrong.

Sorry I know I'm thick but I still can't get my head round the loop effects ???
every time you change song or turn the BR on do you have to reset them?

SdC

Just when creating a new song; there's reverb on all tracks and on the input and drums.

Reverb send level defaults to 10 (max is 100) on all tracks, input, and drums. You can change it to 0 if you want to, but it won't affect your recordings when in Normal mode because the mixer and loop effects are positioned after the record tracks in the signal path. So, the reverb send level will affect what you hear in your headphones or monitor speakers but it won't be recorded to the track. However, in Bounce mode and Mastering mode, the output of the mixer is routed back to the destination v-track pair. So, in those modes, the loop effects will be recorded. The bottom line is that you really only need to worry about loop effect send levels when in Bounce mode or Mastering mode. The rest of the time, it's just a matter of listening preference. If the 10% reverb bothers you, you can turn it off. Otherwise, don't worry about it till you bounce or master.

The same applies to the Chorus, Delay, and Doubling loop effects, except they default to 0. If you increase the send levels in Normal mode, it only affects what you hear in your headphones or monitor speakers -- not what is recorded to the track. But in Bounce mode or Mastering mode, these loop effects will be recorded to the destination v-track pair.

Can someone tell me how to switch the Phase trainer button off [flashing] and how do I delete stuff I don,t want that is playing on it. My hair has got a lot thinner since I bought the 600. help...

henry b

OK , so the Phase trainer stays on [lit], I can live with that. When I record my acoustic guitar and play it back I find that there is still previous recordings playing , how can I get rid of these old recordings, playing over them doesn,t seem to work.

henry b

Answering my own question, I now know that I don,t delete something I Erase it. I tried initializing the card also but this made no change to previous stuff on the card ,I was hoping it would be made clean .. boy am I having fun  :-[

You seem to be struggling with basic concepts. I trust that you've read the Owner's Manual but found it difficult to understand. I think you should watch the BR-600 DVD Owner's Manual from ProAudioDVDs. It would really help you a lot. I just posted a full review of it here:

https://songcrafters.org/community/br-600-b57/review-of-the-roland-dvd-owner%27s-manual-for-the-br-600/msg31237/#msg31237

The Phrase Trainer is switched off the same way you switched it on; by pressing the PHRASE TRAINER button, then toggling the On/Off values of TimeStrtch and CentrCncl with the Time/Value wheel.

Any tracks can be erased using the Track Erase function. You have to specify the correct track and v-track. You cannot erase tracks from a protected song such as the demo song included on the BR-600 memory card until you un-protect the song (see pages 88/89 of the BR-600 manual).

The Card Initialize function will erase everything from the memory card and create a new, empty song. If this didn't happen, you must have done something wrong. Perhaps you selected INIT ALL or INIT SYSTEM instead of INIT CARD.

You,re right I don,t understand the basics here, the terminology is a bit foreign to me as was [erase and not delete] PC language, but I will persevere . I will be ordering the DVD asap it does look more helpful than the manual . Re formatting and the phase button I did manage to figure that out. Also I obtained  "Sound Engineering Made Simple " by Stuart Clyde, it did help recording but said nothing about how to play back what you have just recorded without going through all the editing sequence  .Thanks for your help and I hope to post something that I have recorded.  regards  henry b.
