I love everything about this. There were some production choices tyhat threw me at first (levels), and by the end of the tune, I was completely thinking how I mix. Super catchy, and I just love the understated flutey part. The "La Bamba" section and  what followed...all great.

Really clever weaving of the various sections.

Top notch.

Cheers Blooby! I really appreciate the input. Would you care to expand on:

I ALWAYS doubt myself before (and after!) releasing one of my song productions on an unsuspecting world! As has pretty much become 'the norm' for me now when recording with my BR1600, I had some sub-mix decisions to make on how I put this one together.  When tracking I generally only tend to use the 8 mono channels on my BR1600 then, when all the first virtual track bank 1-8 is full, I sub-mix to one of the free stereo tracks. Then I move down to the next available bank (virtual tracks 2) on channels 1 through to 8 and .... away I go again! (Repeat until I run out of ideas!) The only trouble I find with this way of working is I'm regularly having to stop & sub-mix which is a bit of a pain in the arse at times as it can (& does!) break my creative flow and I often lose focus. This is why I usually always doubt my mixes because of all the guesswork involved. I'm sure it would be miles easier if I could leave ALL the mixing decisions right until the end but, as far as I'm aware anyway, Roland/Boss never made a standalone recorder with 64 channel faders and I don't get on with computers when it comes to making music.

Excellent songwriting Paul!

I love this production too.  After the cool intro with flute, a nice, even acoustic guitar gets it moving and keeps it so.  The interlude seems to have a Latino flavor, to me, a very pleasant surprise.  Then back to the original spirit.

The lyric is excellent, something we can all relate to, well put.

I'll keep an eye on bandcamp.  I like what you wrote about the difficulty of calling a production 'finished'.  One thing that helps me is knowing that I have a half dozen lyrics in the book waiting to see the light of day.  Still, I might have posters remorse sometimes,  ;)

Thanks for the kind words Ron! RE:

I'm the exact opposite - I NEVER have any lyrics in the book! Practically every song I attempt is a start from scratch empty slate this end. I definitely prefer the idea of your way of working ie: having stuff prepared to work from. Ahh, well ... there are many ways to the top of the mountain I guess.
