Ted, you are the man! I'm still trying to get my head around how completely different it sounds. You've put a pace to the whole song. If you're familiar with the music here on the edge of eastern Europe, you can hear a balkan/gypsy/polka kind of oompa in the main bass hook. What was once a song about a papa suffering from sidewalk rage while pushing his infant son through the streets of Vienna in a baby buggy is now a song about...about. What's it about now, Ted? I was angry before. You healed me with your bass. Now I'm content and satisfied. It all makes sense to me now. Well, not fox news, but tensional chords and changing the root of a chord by moving the bass progression to a different part of a measure. Thanks Ted for going at it. I still like the raging Papa version and I have a version with such a bass line and it is the same progression as yours, but it comes in at a different count. I like then both. Thanks again for taking charge and doing what you thought was right. Thom
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space.

I suppose the word "surfing" led me away from a more aggressive bass part.  I had no idea where Penzing is either (although I do know now).  Pushing a baby buggy down a hostile sidewalk doesn't conjure images of surfing. I've never surfed, but as an old skateboarder, I can totally appreciate the exhilaration of successfully pushing myself through some risky terrain.

So, here's a video of skateboarding in Vienna.  Start the song, then scroll down quickly and start the video.  That's what it's about.

This song passed through my playlist yesterday. Haven't heard it in a long time. It's still very satisfying for me.

In the last four years since I posted this song, I've gotten better at putting music to videos.

The original video is not mine, but it is set in Vienna.

It looks like visiblemember hasn't posted anything in 11 years, but dropped in for a lurk about two years ago. Maybe you could send them a message and (if the email is still good) you can find out of you two are brothers separated at birth.

How did you find this? If I had heard this randomly, I would have sounded vaguely familiar, but I'm sure if I would have remembered that it was me on bass.

will do Ted... I found it digging up from the bottom of your list... I generally like to listen to stuff folks who are active on the site have done that way I kind of get their vibe and can sort of understand better where they are coming from musically...
