Pay Attention
written & performed by Hook
Did you notice you didn't notice that there was an accident at the intersection we just passed
They were flares in the road and lights from police and fire engines even an ambulance
Did you notice we had sat there for at least two cycles of the stoplight red yellow green red yellow and green
There was a policeman directing traffic white gloves in a flashlight I can't believe that you didn't see him

Where are you now
and why can't you pay attention

Did you notice I didn't notice you had changed all the furniture and redecorated our front room
I just tossed my hat and keys right down made a drink and sit in my favorite chair and started to brood
Did you notice I didn't notice you were crying you were spilling tear after tear into your glass of wine
I was on my third drink something about how those ice cubes clink that's when I started to shed mine

Where am I now
Why can't I pay attention

Did you notice we didn't notice that another year has gone by we just let it pass right by without a glance
An I wonder if we would you know somehow if we could do things differently would we take that chance

Where are we now
When are we gonna pay attention

Nice melodies and cool concept for a song...maladaptive daydreaming...those lotto numbers seem so vivid LOL.

You are a writer!! Your writing seems to be easy like breathing to you!

And your voice is very unique.

Have you ever tried to include rapping in your songs? I could imagine that you are able to write those demanding lyrics and rythmics it requires..

Hook

Thanks everyone.

Thanks Siru, I often feel that my writing is like breathing to me.
As far as rapping goes, I'm too meldic, fast singing...yes, rapping...no.
My kids are obsessed with the musical Hamilton and my 16 year old has taught herself to rap with the founding fathers of America.
Rock on!

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

I did what I never do and read the lyrics before hearing the song.  They're great lyrics, they connected with me.  Then the song surprised me a little being so upbeat.  No matter, always a pleasure to hear your performance.
