I need to re-introduce myself.......I just got back the results from my Ancestry DNA test. It appears my bloodline is 37% from Ireland,  33% Great Britain, 14% Spain/Portugal, 9% Scandinavia, and 7% East/West Europe.  I think that all explains why I like to make music, drink, and party  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D.

So hello cousins...it's nice to meet you...cheers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How interesting... I never even knew you could do this!

Very good indeed. You certainly have an interesting and colourful mix there - even a little bit of the Iberian blood too!

I will raise a glass!!!

My wife purchased this as a gift for me. She said it was a special offer for $70. I'm not sure what the normal fee is but it can't be much more than that. Due to the over whelming success of the sale (at least that was their excuse)  it took 12 weeks to get the results back instead the the advertised 6 to 8 weeks.

It was enlightening to find out where my ancestors originated. You should do it.

The May 2017 issue of Who Do You Think You Are? magazine has an article called "A guide to DNA testing for genealogy". It compares several different DNA testing services and includes pricing.

Hi Cousin !

Funnily enough my wife had recently suggested doing the Ancestry DNA test - sounds interesting.  I did some research on my family tree a few years ago and managed to trace back my mum and dad's families to the early 1800's. It starts to get difficult at that point as there's only so much information available on-line. My Dad's side of the family seem to have come over to England from Ireland about 200 years ago and my mum's side lived locally (Lancashire, England).

We'll probably try the DNA test when we've a bit of spare cash for it !

.....mmmmmhhhh.... ::)

Since both my parents' families are from Sicily, the only thing I'm rather sure is that my DNA must be a very intricated melting pot of everyone who came here in the last 2000 years or so...Greeks, Fenicians, Romans, Arabians, Spanish, French, Normans...so I think it would be useless for me....  ;D

I did a DNA test - mainly because both my parents were adopted and we only have family trees on both my grandmother's sides.

I was very disappointed to find that I'm 91% British (versus a national average of 60%).

So, as British as it gets, at a time when I want to emigrate and never come back.

About to buy my parent's some tests, as I have a potential lead on one of my grandfathers that needs to be genetically proven.
