Had a moment to listen back to a show from about a month ago. This is a relatively new tune for us.

If you've heard it before, from what artist's version are you most familiar? Mine was probably from The Band.

"Long Black Veil"

Ten years ago on a cool dark night
There was someone killed 'neath the town hall light
There were few at the scene and they all did agree
That the man who ran looked a lot like me

The judge said "Son, what is your alibi?
If you were somewhere else then you won't have to die"
I spoke not a word although it meant my life
I had been in the arms of my best friend's wife

She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave where the night winds wail
Nobody knows, no, and nobody sees
Nobody knows but me

The scaffold was high and eternity neared
She stood in the crowd and shed not a tear
But sometimes at night when the cold wind moans
In a long black veil she cries over my bones

She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave where the night winds wail
Nobody knows, no, and nobody sees
Nobody knows but me
Nobody knows, no, and nobody sees
Nobody knows but me

The version I first heard was nick cave and the bad seeds version from their covers album "kicking against the pricks" he said he was covering the johnny cash version I think.

Great stripped down version, I've always loved this tune and you guys really capture the mood. The Band was my introduction as well, and later Johnny Cash. Loved when Gregg Allman started singing this, really haunting take on it.

Redler

Warm and enjoyable performance guys!

Haven't heard the song before...

Listened to this the other day - thought I'd commented. However, better late than never. Loved this tune. I'm a sucker for these kind of tunes that tell a story. Very, very good chaps. Liked this loads.

The Band and Johnny Cash's are the ones I'm familiar with. I always enjoy your live pub takes on the songs you post and this is a good one!
