A few inversions of A9.  I tried to use strummed chords to make a melody so I used all the inversions I could find.  A9 has a seventh in it as well so there were a few extra possibilities.

I used my old Ovation but miced it using a Rode NT2a rather than DI, playing it twice and fairly hard-panning it to give it a bit more body and not sound too "glass-fibre."  I also used my cheapo mandolin recorded the same way but just once.

Drums were a mixture of one-shot samples and some loops from Presonus of individually miced tracks - 16 in all including overheads, room and ambient tracks.  As you can imagine, it took a while to mix this since I don't really know what I'm doing...

Everything else was played on my trusty Yamaha Motif XS7 - including the banjo.  Yes - "banjo" - I apologise but it seemed like a good idea at the time.

All recorded and mixed in Studio One 3 Pro.

Completely brilliant my brother. Excellent use of inversions to create that Melody and movement period flowing and enjoyable, I Dig It. Rock on!

Paul, I don't how you managed to do it but you've put the progressive rock mojo into this one chord song big time! The acoustic sounds great mic'ed up with the NT2a as does the mando. Expertly done with the A9 chord!

When I first read the title "Left hand Rule" I thought you might be playing it left handed, lol.

Poetic melody my man!! I soaked it right in, had me humming from the get go. Maybe because I'm left handed, I don't know...

Very cool tune Paul!

This is how it's done. It can be done! A song based on one chord that stands up on its own as a great listenable piece.

Great work Paul.
