a slightly twisted account of my families weekend trip to St. Augustine, the oldest, consistently occupied city in the USA.
done early Sunday morning in the car, hotel parking lot on the BR80.

Give It A Twist
written & performed  by Hook
Cm  Fm. Gm.  Dm

Early in the morning
Because I don't sleep
On a weekend vacation
To St. Augustine
Tip toed past sleeping kids
Down to the lobby I go
Desperately searching
for a strong cup of Joe
Asked The kid at the desk
Some 20 something punk
All I gots left from last night
Thick burnt nasty junk

Bm.  Am. Gm
So I reach out
Grab his head
And give it a twist

Bm. Am Gm. Dm
I can't believe
The Double Tree
Didn't have fresh coffee

So I leave him there on the floor
Take a right as I exit the door
A short walk, convient store
2 blocks, maybe a little more
As I get a 100 yards away
I notice darkness where neon should display
An old man with a key, I smile and start to ask
"Open in an hour" he interrupts
Gruff, rude and fast

So I reach out
Grab his head
And give it a twist
A fresh cup of coffee
In St. Augustine
Just doesn't exist

Back to the hotel & into the car
Too early for coffee
Too late for a bar
In a 24/7 world
You wouldn't think it would be this hard
To wake up pleasantly

After a 20 min. drive
Golden arches I see
I would have perfered 7/11
But now I'm not picky
A number one combo
With a large black coffee
$5.37, drive around to window 3

As the window slides
I can't believe my eyes
It's the the front desk punk
How could he have survived
As he gives me my coffee
I smile and say "you look like the kid from the double tree"
He says " that's my twin, he's Frank, I'm Stanley
I take a big sip and a calm surrounds me

And I reach out
Grab his head
And give it a twist
I didn't think my
St. Augustine vacation
Would be nearly as much fun as this

As Sammy Davis Jr would say, "You're one cool cat babe"! I think I've said it before, but you are the modern day Frank Sinatra. The twin brother part had me in stitches!

Yes - I love it.

Oh man I wanna party with you. When I'm at my condo in St. Augustine this summer we need to go head twisting.
Great songwriting and performance.

After eating Launched's post, I started thinking this kind of has a noir vibe. I'm curious what it would've sounded like with a brush kit.

Caffeine addiction is apparently a bitch. I'll stick scotch.

Good way to start my day.

A really dark song, done brilliantly. Love those odd tonality shifts - they add to the unsettling twisted feel.
