Yves Simon is a french folk singer

"les gauloises bleues" are  horrible brown cigarettes that were smoked a lot in the 1970s

thanks for listening

here is the tranlation by google

They smoked blue Gauloises
La la la the beautiful days

They smoked blue Gauloises
That was often cut in two
La la la the beautiful days
The little women from Paris climbed onto our balconies
See if the flowers of evil were still growing in this season

At the Café du Bas de laine
Sometimes I saw Verlaine
La la la the beautiful days
And Rimbaud who was traveling over the spring
We said from the top of his clouds where the wind came from

Oh good days
Oh good days

Dylan cultivated the land
Somewhere in England
La la la the beautiful days
Jefferson Airplane moved to the presidency
For the ancient kings of the world had just forbidden the dance

More shops in music-hall
At the Boulevard du Rock'n'roll
La la la the beautiful days
The time has passed and short-circuited the amps
Bruno now playing the accordion in the streets of Clichy

Oh good days
Oh good days

Boris invented jazz
Every evening at the ball of Laze
La la la the beautiful days
And his trumpet set fire to the lanterns
Duke Ellington arrived just in time for the revolution

They smoked blue Gauloises
That was often cut in two
La la la the beautiful days
The little women from Paris climbed onto our balconies
See if the flowers of evil were still growing in this season
The la la la la la

Beautiful. Great playing and I was sorta able to follow along with the lyrics. Nice song with my morning coffee.

Lovely stuff, JP! I used to smoke Gauloises when I was at college back in the '80s... such a foul tasting smoke that no-one would bother trying to scrounge them  :D

Anyway, back to the music... absolutely superb, mate. Shades of Charles Aznavour... love the accordian - it lends it a real Gallic charm. Like sitting on the Champs Elysee drinking an espresso & watching the world go by.

Since the exactions of these daesh madmen, drinking a coffee on the terrace of a cafe has become somehow a militant act!

Bravo, mon ami.  Really beautiful and evocative.  Your music has such character it's a privilege to hear.

Lovely song - reminds me of when I used to smoke and Gauloises Blondes were my favourite French cigs. Maintenant je suis vapoteur.
