I am going to kick myself out of lurk mode by posting this song. Apologies I haven't been around, but there's been some pressing family obligations. The situation hasn't changed, but my need for some music and a little bit of brotherhood was necessary.

My nemesis instrument in trying to put together a band has always been bass. I have played with some fine musicians, but I don't think we ever gelled completely. I think this new chap named Forrest (found in the local Craigslist) and I complement each other's playing pretty well.

This was a one take dealio with John (Lurker) on vocals. Addictive Drums futzed with after the fact.

And I'll kick myself out of lurk mode to comment on this fine song...

I agree the guitar and bass are working really well together here!  The subtle rhythmic syncopations... very similar style to the original.  Just really, really fine playing.  And Lurkers vox is always clean and right on.
Great job guys!

These days I merely dabble at being old and wise.
But I swear, I used to absolutely excel at being young and stupid.

Very nice, Blooby, I've actually been working on a cover of this song as well. Never really liked the song until the Dickey Betts started teasing it after Jerry passed - now I love it.

I think Feb is the Dead Covers Project Month - worth looking into and entering.
