This one has been pitched to a new collaborator -- someone who I think might be a good match for the kind of music I'm feeling motivated to produce these days. She's a bass player (like me) so I've left out bass for her to add. She might add another verse, but this is all me for now.

You're not doing anything wrong.
No one's gonna make you change.
All of your convictions are true. Everybody that you hate deserves it.
Now go to sleep my baby.
Go to sleep my baby.

Something scared you today.
Let me tell you a story.
Make the facts go away.
Let me cover your eyes.

You've had a very big day
Playing with all of your big toys.
Don't worry 'bout the mess that you made. Somebody else will clean it up for you.
Now go to sleep my baby.
Go to sleep my baby.

Very promising.  I'm looking forward to hearing the full version with bass.

loving the uke, and look forward to hearing added bass. great lyrics with a lot of depth that could be interpreted in so many different ways, i dread to think who may be playing with the big toys and making a mess.

Loved the uke too! Well played and recorded!

The guitar and drums puts a tasty flavor to this. Fine vocal melodies as well!

Well, my collaborator doesn't have time for this right now, so I'll have to do the bass by myself. I'm still mulling whether this needs another verse or something else in the middle.

I think I'm going to try this technique for recording vocals.

Great song, Ted - really love the dynamics, and the uke sounds fab. And thanks for that link - I might have to try a technique or two myself!

Soo...

What are your thoughts among the following options:

  • Leave the structure as is and finish the production (same length ~3 min)
  • Extend the section after the first chorus with a short solo of some sort (3:30-ish)
  • Add a third verse (4:30-ish)

I have an idea for a third verse, but I'm not sure the song needs one to establish the idea.

I'm not much of a soloist.
