Wow! I'm not familiar with the original, but what a nice song this is!

This sounds so professional to me; excellent playing on each instrument (the midi flute is like a real one) and the mix and mastering is perfect!

Well sung, too!

Kenny this was all recorded and mixed in Pro Tools. I still haven't got the Tascam thing down quite yet as I am so use to DAWS.

Guitars are my LP through AmpliTube, Bass direct with a bit of EQ & compression, Drums are modified grooves from Toontrack SD2 and the flute is through a Kontakt patch on my Novation midi controller. Vocals were recorded with a CAD condenser mic direct into my audio interface.

Once I have good gain staging levels all the tracks had a Slate VCC console emulation with various settings and preamps and some with an added Slate Fabrice Gabriel virtual tape machine. I setup and Aux channel to send for effects and in this case just a touch of reverb from the Pro Tools plugins. I also use a Buss compressor and link the consoles on a premix channel before the master output. Then just a touch of mastering with a preset on the Lurssen mastering console OR sometimes the PT Maxim to bring it all together.

Small tweaks to every plugin through the Buss compressor seem to even out all the peaks and valleys before reaching the end. Some tracks have volume automation points, but not many, it's usually the vocal tracks.

Sorry I'll quit rambling.

I lost you at Pro tools 😆
Brilliant piece of recording I'm tempted to try pro tools but would like a mixer type interface.

Great cover. Loved the recording - and the large slice of southern rock, excellent. The vocals are spot on, and some lovely tasteful playing as well.
Top notch.

A fine, fine cover of this old standard Mach! If I heard this being played this well in a bar I would buy a round of boiler makers for the band! I never tire of listening to Marshall Tucker songs. Nice take on it!
