Well this song was covered by ELP - so for the Lost festival. Just finished the tax return, so had a hour to play - so did the tune from memory, so not 100% but hey-ho, it was an enjoyable hour :-)

Damn that GAS - the sounds are all by guitar and these box of tricks!

Very cool sounds. You, my friend, are a Digitech whore (a good handle, by the way). You have managed to recreate many of the beloved synth sounds from Flash Gordon. Loved this.

Loved it!

I've always liked the Peter Gunn theme - it sounds especially great with your smooth style and all those swooshy sounds happening on this.

Would like to know more about those pedals! :)

Oh where to start  :)
First thanks for the kind comments as always - I always appreciate the time taken to listen on songcrafters.

Right, this is basically drum loop, bass through the kemper, and two stereo guitar tracks - on rhythm, and one lead (The Luke guitar). Not a single keyboard used on this, or midi pedal or anything like that. Straight jack in and out, and no latency or delay!

Guitar sounds is clean amp, and the Digitech pedals are wired in the post stereo effects loop on the kemper.

Digitech were floundering as a company, struggling to compete with cheaper pedals. So they needed to up their game. The set the task of the design team to come up with pedals to be different and push the boundaries. All these pedals are multi-functional - you get a lot of bang for your buck with these.

I wanted a tape echo for the Kemper. Whilst it has great echo's on board, it doesn't have a good tape delay. A friend who loves echo's recommended the obscure - although I was thinking about something like the Strymon Blue Sky (big bucks) but thought I'd take a look at the Obscura. Thought it was great, so bought it. It is a fantastic delay pedal and then some, and has been used on all my last few tracks. Having bought that, was itching for the Polara. Now Digitech own Lexicon, and took all the Lexicon rack software and put in into a pedal. Its stunning. The Halo reverb is simply astounding. And its got a spring verb for the guitar - awesome.

Having come that far, the shop had a Ventura Vibe - which does a UniVibe and a Leslie Rotary Speaker effect - and does so rather splendidly - it gives all those spacial swooshes on this!!! Think Hendrix for this pedal, thats what it will give you.

The last one is the Dirty Robot. Turns the guitar into a synth. Endless fun with sweeps and filters and sub base etc. It does sound rather like an old school analogue synth. And that its - that's my journey - am feeling a tad broke now. Hope they don't bring out many more!!!! The pedals are all stereo pedals, and that really gives a depth to the sound btw.

Hope that explains. Its my little Digitech journey, and walk of shame!!!!

This was real fun to record - felt like it was always on the edge, the sound was shifting constantly and overloading here and there, but made the recording process quite exciting. There was a happy accident at the end as well, tried to rolloff the bass with the vol pot on the bass, which was dirty and crackled like mad, but I loved that ending, so kept it in!!!

When I pressed play, I was expecting a Duane Eddy-esque twangy guitar fest, but you completely confounded my expectations. The imagination required to take a tune and completely re-work it in such an original way is staggering! This sounds absolutely epic! I might have to dust off some of my analogue synth plug ins after hearing this. Inspiring!
