This came about on Christmas day morning, when I found myself singing this tune in 5/4.   Had very little opportunity to get it done during my time off, finally got a chance today.

I used my Zoom R16 for the first time in years for the vocals.  Backer was done in GB (drums from DM-1), then I recorded that to the Zoom and added the vocals with a real microphone on an actual mic stand.  Luxury.

It's about as upbeat as I get and way too cheerful for January.

Enjoy.

I dig it brother, very cool arrangement. The clarinet at 5 is outstanding!!!I''ve said it before your jazz instincts are spectacular. I've been listening to my Dads old 78s (I've got an incredible record collection now) and so many big bands took nursery rhymes and Jazzed them up. Well done.
Rock on!

Very very impressive

I like very much:

 the mixing bass and drum
the rhythm of the measure  5/4
 the clarinet
the piano
the voice

.................. everything in fact

All the instruments parts are so much developed that I have difficulty in hearing(understanding) the song in general my listening passes constantly from a partto an other one

Congratulations Nick
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Yeah Nick, you do have a natural instinct for Jazz and this sounds very spontaneous as all good jazz should.

(Hey, I got a mic stand recently too - instead of balancing the mic on various things - luxury indeed!!)

Wow, this is good. Nothing's forced, everything is just as it should be.

Makes me want to have a go at one that's been on my wishlist for a while.

The (first bit of) the 5 section is my cheeky rip-off of / homage to Dave Brubeck's Take 5, which I now realise is a very significant track in my music life.  I'm jealous of your 78's by the way - my musical focus is getting earlier and earlier in time.
