Not The Way (Song written by my son)

My son wrote and recorded this amazing song using our IPad.  He played all the stuff (he is also on vocals) using the IPad apps and recorded it in the Garage Band APP.  Everything was played real time (i.e. no loops were used), including the bass and drums, etc.  I think this is pretty damn cool.  He is 14, so thats pretty impressive in my books.  I took the tracks and imported them into my BR-1200, mixed them down a bit, added a bit of electric guitar here and there, and Keith added some mellotron.  It was too big to post here even in 128 so I posted it over at Alonetone and linked it to here.  Its a bit of an adventure for sure, somewhat prog-rock, somewhat hell-yeah......I'm pretty pumped at how it sounds.

Fmgwabp a star is born. I look forward to following this young man's progress. I'm continually amazed what can be done with an iPad. Very reminiscent of vdgg  at times. Brilliant way to go young fella.

Great job on this Kieth .. love the Dr who kinda beginning creating the scene  slipping into the vocal" Kieth you sound more 30 than 14 " then into the dirge and mad Captian Nero organ...a captivating journey with lots of turns just the way it ought to be ..... great stuff!!  I'm a fan  ...

Wow, how impressive is this, at 14 I was trying to string three or four chords together. I'm also impressed that it was done on an iPad which I have but just can't get to grips with. Sounds like Kieth Emerson in parts.
Top notch post.     Willie

Well if this is your son at 14... it is scary what he could be capable of. Very impressed it was done in real time. I would never even attempt that, but it does give it a more alive, organic feel. Very old school King Crimsony sounding. Really enjoyed that!

What a great thing to have a son like that... you two together can do some great stuff!!

Yes very impressive! You have an awesome Prog-Rock thing going on here...very original.
I like all the different directions this takes that keeps the listener glued to what comes next
and to me that makes for great songwriting. A piece like this, done in real time, shows some
talent, determination and patience. A big well done!
