Quote from: CaptainJimbo on January 05, 2017, 02:25:57 PMwhen that Fashion Nugget album came out and I played the shit out of that disc. It was so different to everything else at the time and the songs, arrangements and playing were right up my alley. Most of all I really dug the guitarist Greg Brown who played all of the electric guitar on that album.

His single note lead playing was both eccentric and eclectic (country/blues/rock/Jazz/surf/spy/spaghetti western/secret agent styles), but what really turned me on were all of those super cool 2 and 3 note chord voicings that he would throw in all over the place.
Yep I listened the shit out of that album and it was a pretty big influence on my playing.

The vocals and harmonies sound excellent and there's a serious yet slightly befuddled note to your voice, as if you could not fathom as to why anyone would put a stick shift, bucket seats or safety belts in their car.

Well done mate, you knocked that sucker righ out of the park.

Thanks Jimbo, Yeah I listened to it constantly myself and also the 2nd album "Prolonging the Magic." Fashion, with Greg Brown on guitar, was excellent. You hit the nail on the head about his playing, especially that solo on "I will survive", I played that over and over until I finally got it down, but now since I haven't practiced it I would have to re-learn it. All those styles you mentioned is what I love about it. You have all these genres packed on one album that has very infectious grooves, even the Bass playing is quite awesome. Prolonging had several guest guitarist, but was just as good with the arrangements and music.

When we were kids we used to build and semi-refurbish old classic cars in the backyard. We didn't have a lot of money or even a license to drive, but we made them run and look good. Hot rod muscle cars and of course ones with bench seats for the girls to slide on over next to you. Face it, if you had a car, you got the kitty. This one song brought back all the great memories of those good 'ol days so I had to do it.

Thanks man!
