Is there any merit in having a limit on the number of songs that can posted in one day? The only reason for saying that is that if someone puts 20 odd songs on at one time, then it makes it a little unfair on others who have posted their songs around the same time to get noticed and get feedback. Whilst we all welcome new music on here, I am sure we don't want the boards flooded with one artist at the same time.

I think even the most prolific regular posters on here would manage a few songs each day at most, so is it worth (or possible) to set a limit on this?

I agree completely. It's quite unfair for one member to flood the forum. I looked around the board's settings last night for a way to set a limit but I couldn't find anything. I'll see if there are any mods available that would serve that purpose. If not, I'll have to modify the code myself and it might be a while before I can do that.

The recent spate of bumping has underscored how much better (and simpler) the site organization is now than in previous incarnations.  There were (and still are, I imagine) some really good songs that had been buried in neglected branches of the old taxonomy, and are now simply buried by the weight of two-and-a-half years of material.

What was lost, however, by having the board organized by recorder is knowing what kind of recording equipment was used.

Here's a suggestion that ought to be easy to implement, if people like it:

On the row of buttons, what if there were one that looked like this: (Just an idea.)

When someone clicked it, it would place into the post field a code template like this:

[recordingdetails]
Recorder:
Contributors (Instruments):
Composer(s):
Copyright Info:
Other:
[/recordingdetails]

It would be optional, but when posting, people could provide those details, and it would appear in a distinctive box, such as this:

Boss Micro BR
recorder
Audacity
recorder
GarageBand for Mac

Thanks for the idea, Ted. It would be great if we could get everyone to supply all that information with each song post. I'll look into it.

About a month ago, I had an idea to add a "Main Recorder" setting in the user profiles. Each member would be asked to select their recorder from a list of recorder icons, very similar to how we now can choose from a list of standard avatar pics. The recorder icon would then be displayed with every post, either below the avatar or in the signature so that other members will know which recorder you use.

I haven't yet had time to finish implementing this idea, but I did upload recorder icons for all of the Boss recorders. I'll upload icons for other recorder brands when I have time. I'm using the BR-864 icon in my signature since that's my main recorder. If anyone else wants to add an icon of their main recorder to their signature, feel free to link to any of these images:

BR-900CD

BR-1180

BR-1200CD

I would suggest using the Table BBCode so that you can position other signature info to the right of the recorder icon. To do that, copy and paste the following code template into your signature:

[table][tr][td][img]https://songcrafters.org/community/Recorders/Boss/Micro BR.png[/img]
[center]Micro BR[/center][/td][td]      [/td]
[td]
XXXXXXXXXXXXX
[/td][/tr][/table]

Replace the two instances of "Micro BR" with the model name of your BR from the list above.

Replace "XXXXXXXXXXXXX" with whatever info you want to appear to the right of the recorder icon. Or delete it if you don't want anything there.

If you need help, PM me and I'll edit your signature for you. Just tell me which BR model is your main recorder.

Please try to avoid making your signature too tall. Make use of the full width instead of having each item on a separate line at the left of the signature and wasting all the space at the right. Again, PM me if you need help.

Song Info button -

It's not finished yet but clicking the new song info button will insert the following into your message:

[song=][/song]

Type your song title after the equal sign. The title will be displayed centred and bold on the top line of the song info box.

Type the song info and credits between the tags. I haven't got it to insert default headings yet so you'll have to create your own.

Here's an example along with the MP3 player:

[song=Easy London (Nevano)]
Recorder: Micro BR
Words by: OsCKilO
Music by: OsCKilO
Performed by: Tharek (guitar and vocals), Mark (bass) and Geir (lead guitar)
[/song]
[singlemp3]https://songcrafters.org/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=6970.0;attach=6798[/singlemp3]

And here's what it will look like after you post it:

It would!, but it must be editable. I think many of us don't update the taginfo before posting.
