Cool. When it's done, will it have the template information inside of the tags (Recorder, Words By, etc.)?

It will put the template prompts between the tags as you originally suggested. So, clicking the song info button would insert this into your message:

[song=]
Recorder:
Written by:
Performed by:
[/song]

The prompts are just plain text, so the user would be able to change them or add others.

Looks good :D

Quote from: Tony W on April 26, 2010, 07:30:28 AM^ It would be super awesome if you could pull the metadata info from the MP3.
It would!, but it must be editable. I think many of us don't update the taginfo before posting.

That's a pet peeve of mine as T certainly has figured out (sorry, Tharek.) It really is easy to set mp3 tags. Especially if you use Audacity to convert from WAV to mp3. Just get the newest version and it auto prompts you.

Hi

I think it would be great to be able to reply directly to or even like comments particularly when someone has asked or answered a question regarding production or whatever. :)

I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. By "reply directly", do you mean sending a private, personal message? If so, I strongly disagree. The great thing about a forum like this is that it's public. So everyone can learn from the discussions, now and in the future. If people started replying by PM, then the forums would be nothing but unanswered questions. I think it's very important to keep all discussions public.

If I've misinterpreted your suggestion, please clarify.

dasilvasings

1. More control on our jukebox: there are occasional mp3's we upload (examples, collaborations, etc.) that we may  not want to have in our jukebox. So far our admins have made every change I asked, yet this shouldn't be another burden for them.

2. The order of the songs in the fest's jukebox should be random or at least inverted (when the fest closes): I'm failing all the deadlines and I'm rewarded with my songs being the first in the lists. Not fair!

This is something that I've wanted too ever since Pedro first created the personal jukeboxes. But, for several technical reasons, it's difficult to give members this control and it will be quite some time before I can implement the necessary changes. Until then, I do have a way to flag individual songs so that they won't appear in the jukeboxes, but it's only accessible by me (and Flash Harry, though I'd have to teach him how to use it). So if anyone has any song in their jukebox which they'd rather didn't appear there, send me a PM with a link to the song and I'll flag it so that it will no longer appear in the jukebox.

Also, keep in mind that your personal jukebox only shows MP3s posted in Original Songs, Cover Songs, Songcrafter Tributes, and Backing Track Jams. Any MP3s posted in the other boards will not be included in your personal jukebox. Perhaps, as an interim solution, I could create a "Misc." board in Post Your Work where people could post MP3s which they don't want to appear in their jukebox. Does anyone think that would be a useful board to have?

One thing which some members may not realize that they can already control is the title of each song in their jukebox. This comes directly from the Subject field of the first message in the topic where the song is posted. So, if you don't like the title that appears in your jukebox, just edit the first message of your song post topic and change its Subject field to the desired song title. And when you're posting a new song, bear in mind that whatever you type in the Subject field will appear in your personal jukebox as the song title. So I'd recommend typing only the song title in the Subject field. For example, I'd set the Subject to "When I'm Sixty-Four" rather than "64Guitars covers The Beatles" since the latter is not the song title.

Quote2. The order of the songs in the fest's jukebox should be random or at least inverted (when the fest closes): I'm failing all the deadlines and I'm rewarded with my songs being the first in the lists. Not fair!

I put them in date order because I think that people are most interested in hearing the latest additions. Also, it ensures that the first songs keep changing as new songs are added. If the list was shown in reverse order, then the first song added would always be at the top, giving it an unfair advantage.

It's true that songs added after the close of the festival will stay in the top position much longer than they would during the festival, but I don't think that gives them a huge advantage since interest in the festival will have declined anyway. And it's still possible that someone else will post another late entry to the festival, taking the first position. So there's no guarantee that a late entry will always stay at the top.

There is already a shuffle button in the jukebox which lets you listen to the songs in random order. Although, I'm not sure that it works correctly. It seems to repeat a short list of random songs so that some songs don't get played.

maxit

I was thinking about this thing: having a 'sampler' of songcrafter's people.
Just as simple as each one sending a self choosen best song (let's say not too old), and having them all collected in one big virtual album.
It would be nice to have, as a way for newbies like me to know each one (you're quite a lot) – and, after this, a thing I'd proudly be in. Could be?
ps If you already have it, and I didnt find out: pardon!
