I have to confess...

I know almost nothing about Pearl Jam, and I had absolutely NO IDEA what this "Better Man" was...so when the One Song Fest won this month, I thout about something more popular. Well, I thought, my ignorance. Amen.
Then I went to youtube this Better Man....mmmmmhhhhh, not bad...not bad...

So I proposed Jimmy to join, and with my great surprise he confirmed that he too had never heard that song before!

 :D

So, someway a great challenge for both of us two!  ;D Thanks James!

Anyway:

drums, organ and bass: BIAB
the intro guitar is a Fender Strat; there are three more guitar tracks, where I've used a Gibson SG

Thanks for listening!

Alfredo

I appreciate your attitude Alfredo! You didn't know much about the song or band!

You've done fantastic job with the backer! Excellent playing and producing! Wow!

Brilliant job on the vocals as well, James!

the idea of festival around a reference song is very good
like Alfstone,  I didn't know this song and congratulation to Alfstone (and James, I love specially this voice!...)

after the two versions  (three now  :)of Hook (fantastic,)It seemed to me difficult to propose something else with an also good level and well yes! Alfstone,James , Nick ODH made him!!!

congratulations all guys
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

In some ways, not knowing the song ensures that you don't slavishly copy the Pearl Jam version. You have come up with a good new way to play this song.  The punk Scots vocals from Jim are definitely a new take.

Great work guys.

This challenge is going to be interesting.

I was really surprised and disappointed that the onesongfest won, then bitterly disappointed that this song won. I was never a big fan of pearl jam.
I had never heard this song until alfredo sent me his take on it. I was then very surprised by how complex the song structure is. So it took ages to learn, I think I still didn't quite get it right.
When it came to recording the vocal I tried singing it in endless styles until I realised I should just sing it in my own voice. Tho was influenced by paolo nutinni and Alex Harvey.
Also a friend bought me a lovely brandy which I had cracked open at the start of the recording. By the time I got to this take I was very very drunk, and beginning to understand the lyric and emotion therein, I believe it is about the singers mother and father. Anyway sorry for babbling but thanks for introducing me to a great song.
And thanks for letting me hop on board alfredo.

I has the same feeling of disappointment when the One Song Fest won and the choice of song - there's a few Pearl Jam songs which I know and really like but don't recall Better Man.  Anyway its proving to be an interesting Fest now. Love your different take on the phrasing of the lyrics and the guitars and backing are excellent. Nice job !

Nice backer, Alfredo, (love those drums in particular) and good vocal James (that lubrication of the vocal chords shines through).

I love how this one particular song is bringing out different interpretations.

As Nick said so many different interpretations of this song,
and all so good,
Top class recording guys,
Really well done.....
