Here's a song which was among the first I wrote.  It goes back to when I was in school - around 1980ish.  At the time I didn't have the skills or technology to record it so it never was.  Then when I did get those things I'd moved on.

At the time I wrote a lot of lyrics and most of them faded away.  This one however is still in my head 35+ years on.  So I decided it was time to make a proper version of it.  I had to fill in the blanks to an extent.  At the time I was big into punk bands like Crass, Vice Squad, Discharge and I've tried to remain true to that style.

It's DM-1 drums, the Tokai Tele and GB bass.  And vocals through the iPhone 5 mic.

Enjoy.

I love this for its energy, its dead-pan vocal, and its lyrical intensity.

I was in Dunedin when the punk movement spawned the Dunedin Sound, and this is reminiscent of bands I used to see and listen to. Names like The Enemy and Bored Games probably aren't widely known outside New Zealand, and I daresay remembered by very few here, but this track takes me back in the best possible way.

Straight onto my Songcrafters' playlist. Giz some more!

I loved the YMCA reference. I'm glad you took the time to record it, it made me smile  ;D

Wow, very well put together - Impressive playing and production! Love how clean it is, but still has that dissonant energy to boot.

Yes, this is cool!

There's always space in my heart for this kind of music!

To me this sounds to a tune from the OI punk era! This has some Discharge influence, imo!

Excellent job, Nick!

Fantastic, and just right in every way.  In addition to the punk bands you mentioned, it also reminded a bit of early Wire.

Loved it!
