Wrote this last Thursday and recorded it in my studio but it's just been sitting on my DP24. This is LILTR with my Cuban Tres. I had my AT2020 about waist high and my shure beta58about 10 inches from my mouth going through the TC Helicon T1.

That Small Detail
written & performed by Hook
Time is never replenished
Sands dwindle through narrow waist
Yet I excel in size
Which makes this passing hard

Longing for youth
Yet we just let it slip away
Moments it seems
We're just as we were

Time is so apathetic
It plays no favorites and takes no sides
Always moving forward
while we continuously change directions

Hoping for a chance
To revisit yesterday
Just to fix that small detail
That changes everything

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

leighelse

The dynamics of regret ...

QuoteHoping for a chance
To revisit yesterday
Just to fix that small detail
That changes everything

... I've found there comes a point where I have to leave yesterday behind, or choose to become embittered and hobbled. But I well know what you mean.

This is a well-written song and an excellent recording; the instrument and vocal are clear and clean and well-balanced. Well played and well sung.

Go the Hookster!
Dueling BR1600s. Beats banjos.

I must say that the recent songs you've recorded with DP24 sounds so good and dynamic! Excellent songwriting and performing, again!

Love the lyrics on this - wonderful introspection brother. A song to make you think. And I love the sound of that Tres.

The music is great but the real standout for me is the lyrics.
We do indeed let our youth slip away so fast and spend a good part of our older years looking back.
A thought provoking little song.

You have a constant stream of words flowing out of your head that are always intriguing. Awesome songwriting.

Nicely done Hook! Great retrospective and introspective lyric. The Cuban Tres sounds very fine indeed. Your recordings on the DSP24 have a crystal clear sound. The TC-Helicon Pre gives a great "up close" definition to your vocal without any of those pesky ssssss's sneaking in. Well done amigo!
