Hi,

Here's my UPDATED LITLR version of Only a Hobo.

The guitar (BR800 guitar input) and vocal (Audio Technica 2020 into BR800 mic input) were done live in one take via the BR800 straight into Sonar. The vocal mic also captured the guitar playing in the room.

I've always loved this song. Rod Stewart recorded it on Gasoline Alley, which is one of my favourite albums. I loved Rod for a while but we broke up when he crossed the Atlantic.

Cheers

Ian

Great performance Ian,  I really enjoyed it and it brought back a song I haven't heard in many many years so thank you. It does not qualify for the festival, I'm pretty sure at least, you would have to pop that vocal out and you should because this oughta be in the Jukebox. But you know Edmund stickler for the rules and they're going to say no I think. Rock on!

A new one to me, but I love your performance. A real spontaneous vibe... I envy you chaps who can pick up an acoustic and just create a finished product there & then. With me it's always a mammoth project, do the drums, lay down the bass, do the rhythm guitar, then do it again to double track it, then the lead parts... then the mixing & mastering. This is why I love the way you guys do it on the fly. Excellent performance, pal!

A new one to me as well. I think I will have to reconsider my stance on Bob Dylan - i always thought (lyrics aside) he was pretty good but not amazing, but this is a great song, really enjoyed it and you have done this really well Ian.

Thanks for the compliment John but its not true that I did this on the fly.  I have been practicing this song for ages because I have been trying to get better at playing-and-singing-at-the-same-time.  It took about 15-20 attempts to get through this in one take. However, it is genuinely one take. For some reason I start thinking when I'm playing and I forget the song that I'm playing.  I really have to concentrate on NOT THINKING when I'm playing.
