This is a short song I wrote a few weeks back. The accompaniment is just an acoustic guitar, although it does receive some companionship from a bass near the end. I can provide an unmastered version without vocals if anyone has the time to exercise their pipes on it.

9 Sep 2016: mastered using the online service Master||lizer, and I'm impressed with the results.

17 Oct 2016: New vocal, re-recorded harmonies.

Waiting for you
Words and music Leigh Harrison © APRA 2016
When the night refused to give way to morning
I was waiting for you
When your fear became more real than your future
I was waiting for you
There you were
Alone and helpless
And you had
No-one prepared to be on your side
Yet you found a friend there
I was waiting for you

When the road ahead climbs steep and stony
I'll be waiting for you
When the skies above loom dark and gloomy
I'll be waiting for you
There's no threat
That can defeat us
And no force
With power to keep me from your side
When hope deserts you
I'll be waiting for you

INSTRUMENTAL

I am waiting by the path we must travel
Standing alone
And I know you have to make the same journey
Life moves us on
And I hope
We might walk together
On the path
That takes our hearts all the way home
I can't pretend now
I am waiting for you
Dueling BR1600s. Beats banjos.

This is lovely... it sounds so simple (in a good way) but there's a lot going on here & it all knits together beautifully. Love the (flute?... recorder?) solo - it fits the vibe of the song so well. Bravo!

What a nice song, you really are a fine musician. I remember seeing that flute in the pic of your studio and you play it very well. loved the solo. Those little background vocals also are just really really crisp & perfectly placed.
Rock on!

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

I've replaced the original mix with one I think is a little better.

I've removed the harmonies from one line in verses two and three (the sixths weren't really working in that context), and improved the balance of the octaved background vocals (at least I hope I have).

This is a really beautiful song and you have performed it and recorded very skillfully.

I was immediately into it and you kept me interested in the arrangement all the way through.

Thanks for sharing.

This is a really well written and performed song. The mix is so clear and clean. Your guitar has a nice crisp sound and your articulations show good control. That flute is a great touch. Real flute? Nice Job!

A very good song, recording and performances Leigh! The acoustic guitar is vibrant and the flute fits perfectly as the solo instrument. You sing this well and the backing vocals are placed in the right spots. The lightheartedness of it left me in a good mood...well done!

I listened to this a few days back - a couple of times. I thought I'd commented - lovely tune and recording - super tune, and superb playing.
