I must be getting slow in my old age, this one took a couple of days. spent a couple of hours building up the drum track on my pc using magix music maker. then transferred drum track to my br800.

got the juno di out from under the bed adding three stereo tracks, i don't think i harmed anymore than three chords.

bounced that lot to a stereo track, the added some bass guitar, then got out my old woolies strat and did a couple of tracks with that , 1 track was one bar chord add nauseum the other track i think i might have even used as many as three chords. music was a little experiment, in doing as little as possible but continually adding instruments to build up into something/anything. anyway hardest part was gradually introducing the guitars into the mix. once that was done, i recorded a stereo lead vocal, using my microbr as a mic, with fornylon effect with tap delay turned on, then did two mono backing vocals.

anyway it is what it is.

we can't feed the starving children
but we got the money for war
oh lord you know it breaks my heart
oh we're still digging in the dirt
when we should be reaching for the stars
oh lord you know it breaks my heart
if you can stand up on your own two feet
you should lend a helping hand
instead of demonizing others
you should get to know your fellow man
and why's it got to be this way
where there's always someone else to blame
oh lord you know it breaks my heart
we can't feed the starving children
but we got the money for war
oh we're still digging in the dirt
when we should be reaching for the stars
oh lord you know it breaks my heart

Really engaging texture. And the layers panned all over the place. Subtle and lush. Fantastic.

I love this one, it's really stirred something inside and I couldn't help but write a counter lyric. I've been watching "Borgia" on Netflix, (not the Kerwmy Irons one) really good, and there was a line-
"What if God lost the battle of the angels and the devil has convinced everyone God is Satan" (I paraphrase).
Anyway, that inspired me and I'm gonna try to add the vocal in the next few days...if you don't mind?
Really enjoyed this and I can't wait to Fuck it completely up...if you don't mind?
Rock on!

One of your best, James... the textures here are just brilliant. Worth all the effort you put in... I love the sparse arrangement & the way it builds - beautifully done. Add all that to a cracking set of lyrics & you've got a real winner on your hands, mate  :)

Cheers guys, and yes Johnny that's what i was trying to do, tho i think it would work better in a live setting, with a group of people, so things can build instinctively.

Ive seen it done live by bands like Nick Cave and The bad Seeds and Lambchop. seeing great songs recorded in the studio transformed into something even better in a live environment.

so you lose that possibility playing one instrument at a time. however i think i will try this approach again some time in the future, but will be dependent on the song.

anyway i am rambling , but thanks for the lovely comments.
