Kenny asked me for a collaboration and straight away I thought of Deacon Blue, a band I was quite obsessed with back in the 90's (although don't tell anyone).

And coincidentally this came about whilst I was waiting for delivery of my new guitar, so good opportunity to try it.  I put the backer together over a couple of weeks (I was going initially for a guitar-based-indie bar band feel then it went a tad rockier) then sent it to Kenny for the vocal.  Then this evening he sent this back to me.

And to mis-quote the song (if you'll indulge me), "Ken - this white man sings the blues".   Thanks to Kenny for giving me the opportunity to get involved in this collaboration.

Great cover guys - love this song and the album it came from. (When the world knows your name). Always reminds me of a very drunken coach trip to Munich Beer Festival in 1989.  We had this album and Appetite for Destruction blasting away, having a good sing song. I was very very drunk ! Threw up in the toilet of the coach before we'd passed through Belgium then passed out. Back to the song - liking the new guitar Nick and Kenny's vocals are, as always, brilliant.

Yeah great cover guys, loads of energy, yes a little more rocky than the original but it suits it. Great vocals.

By the way that is great drumming, is that you on live drums Nick - sounds great either way.

Nah.  Programmed using DM-1 for iPhone.  Drum pattern programming always takes the longest.

Nick - it's nothing to hide mate, I loved Deacon Blue in the 80's, I still like to pick them out every now and then, still great music. This track, Real Gone Kid and Dignity are among my all time favourites.

A great version, the Hammond sounds spot on and the distinctive riff leaves you in no doubt that this just works so well.

Kenny's vocal, with his Scottish brogue, sounds perfect.

I really like this.

Nice one guys.

What a great collaboration - super cover.
Was never big into Deacon Blue - but got me thinking. Was big into Del Amitri at the time - prompted me to listen to a few DA tracks. Wow, what great songwriting, they still stir the soul!!!!

I didn't recognise the title when I saw it (the only Deacon Blue song I have a good memory of is Real Gone Kid), but as soon as that iconic guitar riff kicked in I was right there. Brilliant version, chaps!
