"The Anti Tree League" (explicit) a Hook original for Parody Fest

Trying to sneak one in last minute. I wrote these lyrics last week, at first thinking it was just extremely stupid but when I finished it seemed like a parody to me. Not of a song but more of a type of song...maybe a protest or propaganda tune or some kind of persuasive message song. Regardless, it's from someone who really has one of the worst causes ever.

What do we need with trees?
I guess they help us determine
the direction of the breeze
And yeah they give us shade
but shade can be man-made
Sure it's branches are fun to climb
But if we fell from them
would we not cry
So let's rid the world of trees

They are not like us
they don't raise their young
they let their seed blow away
after they cum
but we plant our seed
deep in our spouse
& Smile for 9 months
tip toeing around the house
I wish all trees
would make like a tree
and leave

It's not that I hate all things that are green
To grass, flowers and shrubs I am never mean
But trees are just so much more than plants
being so tall, they make me feel like an ant
I want to be one of  the tallest living things around
Let's cut all the trees down

I know they make oxygen
but so do other plants
Let's speak of all the do's & how's
not the can'ts
Help me divise a plan, then we could
Make a bunch of cool shit
with all of that wood

Gotta say, as much as I love trees (and I do love them - periodically grappling with the missus to save our big Norway maple out back vs. her gardening demands), this one made me laugh, and more than once.

And I love me a good pun, too - "Why don't you make like a tree and leave?" was one I heard more than once from my dad when I was growing up.

Funny stuff, Mr. Hook - sounds very spontaneous and lots of passion in your delivery.

Hey, that was fun. I read these lyrics through the other night but didn't get to listen to the song. So just listening now. Actually this is spooky, because a neighbour of mine has a bee in his bonnet with a very large tree in his garden and has been attempting to cut it down in stages for the last 2 years which has made me laugh to myself to see his determination to take down one of the finest trees in our street which harbours some lovely little bullfinches. I think he objects to the pigeons that like it - most likely they shit in his garden or on his shed, but I am sure he would subscribe to these lyrics wholeheartedly!

Anyway, that was a lovely, crazy, eccentric journey Hook... enjoyed that!!

It always amazes me how a single instrument and a single voice can create such a full sound. I particularly like the ukelele ... although, did you know, they make them out of wood, and wood comes from ...
