Thanks to all who responded to Vision post.
Yes, I think you're right ODH that singing is all about confidence, and yes I do sing very close to the mic. I find that my voice tends to get lost if I'm any distance away.
In recent times, I've tried different things eg splitting a stereo vocal into two single tracks, and playing one slightly behind the other.
In 'Democracy is Coming' (as attached) I spent a bit of time with backing vocals.
Once again, thanks to everyone for feedback

Sounds good to me, yes vocals sound good but bring them up more in the mix they should be the focal point i think.

Good work.

Hi Marxie.

Welcome to Songcrafters.

Congratulations on posting a great performance.

The most important thing in recording is the performance. The recording, mixing and mastering skills are things you can work on as you go. There are lots of posts here and elsewhere on the web to help you improve. The thing to do is seek honest feedback to help you get a few ideas and work on the things that make the most impact.

Well done. Keep going and most of all enjoy yourself.

Best wishes,

Ian

Nice. I too think that the vocals could do with coming up a tad imo - but nicely done.

Yeah, I'll second that. If you're finding that your vocals get lost in a mix you may want to try adding a little compression. Place it first in the signal chain (before any reverb or other FX).

Sounds good. The vocals go get a little washed out but it's a nice recording of a good performance.
Rock on!
