I listened to this the first time through, and then went to listen to The Kinks version because I had never heard it before.  And was astonished how (American) country music that version sounded!  Listening to your version again, loving it and really think this is such a better fit for the mood and the emotional tone of the song that the Davies brothers wrote. A splendidly artistic rendition and nice use of the Korg Nanokey.

One of Dave's best songs, in my opinion. This song was on my shortlist for the KinksFest, but then The Man came and took away my August. :(

I'm not familiar with the original either.  You put a lot of emotion into the performance, great listen.
