Reviving old Macs with Linux

I know there are a few Apple Mac users here, so I thought I'd share this article I came across tonight via a Linux news site.

If you have an old Macbook or whatever that you're no longer using because you've upgraded to a newer Mac, you can give the old machine a few years more life by installing Linux on it. Please note that this means overwriting the existing OS X operating system and you won't be able to get it back. So make sure you're willing to permanently switch to Linux on the old computer before installing it. Most current Linux distros make it easy to boot from a DVD or USB flash drive and try it out without installing anything on the computer's hard drive. Then, when you're sure that you want to go ahead, you can install Linux permanently. Or, if you decide that Linux isn't for you and you'd rather stick with OS X, you can simply eject the DVD or USB flash drive and reboot the Mac.
