A window of opportunity opened on Friday afternoon which caught me on the hop to a certain extent.  I had the lyrics kind of sketched out in my head (and the backer recorded), but I was put on the spot and had to deliver.  I had the original lyric and wrote out the new ones alongside, as follows;

She's got eggs
she knows how to use them
To get pregs [pregnant]
And create our children

She's holdin' sense
She's smart and she's street-wise
She knows the lengths
She has to go to live life

She's a lady
She raises babies
She's alright.

-----#------

She knows her world
It kinda makes her canny
And just like all the girls
She knows [how] to raise a fam'ly

She's just trying to live her life
She doesn't need your prejudice
She doesn't need a hard time
So why do you behave like this?

She's not an insect
She deserves respect.
She's alright

So then I thought I was done.  I went and set up the recording and screeched out the words.

It was at that point with the tape running (metaphorically) I realised I'd forgotten all about verse three.  I knew that in the original verse three is more or less a repeat of verse one, so I chose to crash on and improvise.

She's got eggs
Enough to raise a fam'ly
She shouldn't have to beg
So why d-duh d-duh duh [no words presented themselves here, so this is just noises]

She's holdin' sense
She's smart and she's street-wise
She knows the lengths
She has to go to survive

She's a lady
She makes babies
Oh, she's alright

Oh well ........

This is very good! That guitar work is clever and really sounds like Billy G. could have played it, really well done.

Curious, what was used to get the tone?
And I know alot is in the fingers, ... you got the goods!

Thanks Kenneth.   The guitar (Tokai Tele) played into a GarageBand amp sim called Seventies Metal, which I used straight out of the box.   It's all about how you 'feel' the strings with the fingers holding the pick.
