Johnny Robbo

Like a battery, I have both a negative and a positive side. Here are both...

First, the negative:

And now the positive:

https://jrobsonguitar.wordpress.com/2016/07/31/10-guitarists-who-leave-me-awestruck/

I hope you find at least one of them entertaining  :)

Cheers,

John.

Interesting reading Johnny , especially the guitarists you don't rate! Brought to mind the Bill Bailey sketch:

Hook

Very interesting reading. None of my favorites made your list.
Steve Hackett
Johnny Marr
Marc Ribot
Leo Kotke
Tommy Emanual
I'd toss in Brian Setzer also...love me some stray cats!
Oh and that guy from Tuck & Patty.

I do like The Edge, or more so I like most early U2 until Joshua Tree and some after. Never thought of him as an amazing guitar player but he can create some serious atmosphere.
Can't knock Neil Young but I do consider him a great songwriter who plays guitar.

For me it's always about the band or song and how it all gels together.
I loved Van Halen...(back off of Jump!) hated Van Hagar. Never turned on Genesis after Hackett left. It's about what you do with your skill for me, not necessarily how much skill or technique you have. Then again I have very little of both.

John, all the guitarist you've mentioned in both links amaze me. Some more than others (ie Eric Johnson and SRV) but I'd be more than satisfied to play as well as anyone of them.

With you on most of that John... except Ritchie Blackmore... how could you!! ;D ;D (or Billy GIbbons!!)

Jeff Beck is truly amazing... saw him in Dublin a couple of years ago... he really doesn't want to stand still and stagnate in one genre.

Good read sir!
