Here is my Kinks Festival submission.

I tried a few others before I settled on this one... it was the only one I could play!! :). I found their stuff a bit tricky, which was a bit of a surprise. They seem simple enough on a casual listen, but a lot of their stuff has more to it than meets the eye.

Anyway... this is done in garageband. Two guitar tracks one panned Left and one right. The bass is software bass... with the Liverpool Bass sound selected in Garageband. The drums are again midi programmed in Garageband with the Bluebird Kit sound selected. Plus vocals with a bit of reverb added.

I'm not familiar with this (I know just a few songs from them :(  )

Very good job, Mike! Really nicely sung and the guitars sounds fab! The more I hear well programmed drums (eg. by you and Johnny Robbo) the more I's like buy a good drum software. Well done!

It is always a pleasure to read about recording process. Thanks for it!

Nice job, Mike.  I don't know the original either, but it was a good choice.

Nicely put together and performed.

Well done brother, great song choice, it really fits you. They do write surprisingly tricky songs that take more than 1 or 2 run through to get it right. You've done an excellent job here and made a very enjoyable listen.
Rock on!

Nice one, Mike!

Not a Kinks song, I'm familiar with either (I'm more into their early songs), but this does have that unmistakable Ray Davies vibe to it. Really enjoyed the guitars and drums on this!

Note: I'm also rarely one-and-done when recording a song, so I also know this feeling very well. :)

Whoops, just found out this is one of Dave Davies' songs...  ::)

Still, they are brothers so there's bound to be some musical as well as physical resemblance.  ;D

Back for another listen.  I think I was listening on my phone speaker yesterday, but, wow, this sounds great on headphones.  I love those guitar parts.

What a great post.
