It's a ukelin. I gor ut for $40 @ a thrift store near Richmond.They were made in the 1920s and sold door to door as a cross between a ukulele and a violin (more like a psaltry really). They were never sold in store but the salesmen were trained to say that it was much cheaper to buy now then in the stores. They said it was easy to play and it proved quite the opposite. People send them back and they had a warehouse full of them. Not a rare piece but very cool. I found some strings to order online ($80!!!!) And once I have it shipped to me in FL I'm going to attempt to restore it.

I was quietly following the "GAS is a disease" thread, but... you, sir, are severely afflicted!!

I like guitars, I've bought too many guitars, I'm looking at another one, except they're proving too popular and Yamaha can't ship them fast enough... blah etc...

But you seem to buy crazy stuff!! And then you get decent tunes out of it... hats off to you

We've actually got a woodwind instrument here you might like to buy off us - made by a bloke called Dyson - we could probs do you a good deal if you were interested?
