Reflections - a Robbomac original

I've really hit a dry patch at the moment as far as melodies go. I can come up with the backer... the chord sequence, bass line & drum part no problem. But the tune which sits on top of it all just won't come at the moment. Everything I do always sounds a bit like I'm painting by numbers...

Which is why I'm so grateful for this site - there's always someone to collaborate with. Ideas that would have ended up being junked as "unfinishable" now end up as songs I'm proud to have had a hand in. This is very much the case with this one.

I sent Kenny a backer I'd been struggling with for ages. It's working title was "Prog Ballad". For the life of me I just could NOT come up with a melody that excited me. Kenny's input saved it and transformed it into a belter of a song! This is as good a vocal performance as I think I've ever heard! He writes a mean lyric too!

All the usual suspects... you know them all by now:

Tele, Harley Benton (solos), Cakewalk, eBay bass, Tonelab etc.

Thanks for listening :)

Wow! There is some great songs coming from this site lately, and this is a freakin' beaut!

What a shame that would have been to have shelved that amazing music John, ... you put it in the right hands. What a masterpiece of a backer.

Kenny that was a work of vocal/ lyrical brilliance. Wow!

You two are pros. Keep 'em coming.

Brilliant!! I can hear a blast from the seventies! Really good composing and arranging! I admire your skills on drum programming, too (besides guitar playing).

Well played and sung. The outro is just amazing!

Fantastic job, Kenny and Johnny!

Really well pull together with great sounds. Is there a little flange on the bass as well? It sounds a little tweaked. The singing is so spot on (some wow moments), and then that amazing guitar comes in. I particularly enjoyed the Moore mega-trills and that outro arpeggio. I think my fingers would fall off.

Great post to start my day.

Well spotted, mate! I was going for a bit of a Pino Palladino/Mo Foster type of feel (hard when you don't have a fretless bass).

Thanks for all the comments, chaps!

Thanks for all the comments guys,Johnny asked me about this and I was actually in a bad way emotionally that day as an old friend had passed away.
I guess my emotions poured into the song and although the subject matters not about that ,the chorus is about looking back and reflection.
I needed this song that day so although you didn't know about any of this, thanks Johnny.
Johnnys playing on this is stunning, the lead in the middle
Is excellent.
